Creative use of technology

 For our music video we have used a HD recording camera for the stills of our location rece and recorded with it for our different camera shots to use in our video. To edit our camera shots for the music video we have used final cut to put a music video together and we have used it to create an interesting music video with different transitions. For our digipak we will try and make various different effects and styles to match the genre of our music video which is considered to be R&B.

use of narrative in your music video

Genre

• Considering our genre of music we have decided to make our story-line contradict quite a few of the pop genres conventions one of the conventions we have contradicted is the idea of the singers in it having the glamourous pop princess look and attitude instead in our video we have decided to make our singer look like an average teenager who doesn't live a glamourous lifestyle at all and goes through the same problems every normal person suffers from. 

Character 

• Normally in pop genre music videos the main artist/singer/performer is glamourous looking and the record label normally get them to dress up in quite voyeuristic outfits. In our music video we decided that our artist was going to look unglamourous as we wanted her to be a role model to young girls and someone they could relate to. The outfits we used also weren't voyeuristic at all apart from the beginning scene when our artist is in her pyjamas.

Time

• Our music video follows a storyline where it lasts for what appears to be a duration of a college day although you don't actually see a full detail of the artists day we see everything bad that happens to her.

Our Inspiration

During the pitch for our music video we all had very similar musical inspirations and certain music videos that we decided had a great connection to the Saturdays Had it with today. We decided that we wanted to follow in the example of music video such as Daniel Powter's Bad Day where the main characters follow a story line with them experiencing a bad day. we also liked the idea of a story line following the lyrics which we got the inspiration from the music video by Rihanna and Eminiem Love the way you lie.  

Analysis of digipak conventions

This is a Digipak of an album by The Saturdays.
It conforms to the genre characteristics as it shows all members of the group on the cover all looking glamorous and stylish as is the norm for this genre.
You'll notice in the bottom left corner a promotional sticker which states that it contains certain songs that are probably the more popular on the album to try and attract more people to buy it.
